OpenAI / ChatGPT Phone Verification
OpenAI asks for a phone number that it has not seen before and accepts only a limited number of accounts per line. Cheap virtual numbers are rejected almost immediately.
Our OpenAI tier uses US T-Mobile carrier numbers with a monitored prefix pool, so the acceptance rate stays usable while the price stays low.
Codes usually arrive in under a minute and sync automatically to your SMS center. If a code never arrives, swap the number instead of paying twice.

- Prefixes are tracked: ranges with a poor delivery rate are removed from the pool.
- Long tiers mean the same number can handle a later login, or a Codex sign-in prompt.
- Fallback support: if a code does not arrive, request a replacement number instead of paying twice.
How it works
- Pick the tier — Buy an OpenAI / ChatGPT number — choose 21-30 days if you plan to keep the account.
- Start verification — Open the phone step in ChatGPT / OpenAI and enter the number with its country code.
- Read the code — The SMS lands in your private link and the SMS center, usually in under a minute.
- If it fails — Change your IP or node first, then swap the number and request the code again.
What OpenAI actually checks when you add a number
OpenAI screens the type of number, not just whether it can receive an SMS. VoIP ranges, public receive-SMS pools and numbers that have already been used for many accounts are refused before a code is ever sent, which is why a fresh carrier line clears the check that a free number fails. The second signal is context: the country of your IP, the language and the time zone of the browser should roughly match the number you enter.
Practical rules that keep the pass rate high: use one number per account, do not register several accounts from the same IP on the same day, and renew the line instead of recycling it for a second signup. If the code never arrives, pull the latest message in the SMS center first, then retry from a clean US exit node, and only then request a replacement number - the swap counter is limited and it is wasted on numbers that already received a message.
Choosing a tier for ChatGPT, Codex or the API
A single signup needs very little time: the 2-10 day tier covers it and costs the least. The moment you expect a second check - a new laptop, a new city, a fresh login after a password reset - the cheap tier becomes a false economy, because the number may expire exactly when the account asks for it. For anything you plan to keep, take 21-30 days and renew before expiry; renewal keeps the same line, so the recovery number stored on the account stays valid.

FAQ
How many OpenAI accounts can one number verify?
OpenAI limits reuse per line: one number usually verifies one account. For a second account, order another number.
Why do some numbers fail?
Most failures come from the network side — VPN nodes, datacenter IPs and flagged regions. Change the IP and retry before blaming the number.
Do you support Codex logins as well?
Yes, the same tier is used for Codex; keep the number so a later sign-in prompt can be answered.
